Tap dance is a dance genre that dancer will wear shoes that are fitted with heel and toes to taps sounds out audible beat by rhythmically striking the floor. There are a few major variations on tap dance that includes: rhythm tap, classical tap, Broadway tap, post-modern tap. Tap dance begun to be famous in the mid-1800s during the rise of minstrel show. But due to the two-colored rule, which forbade black people from performing solo, the majority of tap dance act were duets.

Tap dancing can either be done with music following the beats provided, or without musical accompaniment. Professional dancer using mostly footwork and not showing very much arm or body movement. Tap dancers worn tap shoes that are made of wooden soles, some shoes also made of leather soles. Now, most tap shoes are added with a metallic tap to produce a distinct tapping sound.
